Computational Model of Motor Decision Making for Virtual Creatures Based on Neurosciences

Research Abstract: 

In this research we develop a computational model of motor decision making (MDM) based on recent neuroscientific findings. We want to endow an Autonomous Agent (AA) with necessary mechanism to show a human-like behavior. An AA can be a physical or virtual entity with human aspect. The MDM is a main cognitive function of humans; this function has been studied in several fields such as: neuroscience, psychology, philosophy, computer science, economy, statistic, among others.
Currently, there exists AAs trying to show a human-like behavior. However, there are several challenges that need to be solved to obtain the desired result. We look to develop a computational model that goes beyond a simple behavior simulation of human MDM. Moreover we want to emulate this cognitive function in order to reach our objective.


José Antonio Cervantes Alvarez, received his M.Sc degree from National Center of Research and Technological Development (CENIDET), Cuernavaca, Mexico in 2005. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV) campus Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. His research interest includes neural computation, cognitive architectures, system based in autonomous agents and distributed systems.
